On November 17, 2009, shortly after the successful bond election, I, along with others from the Yes For Tempe Elementary Schools committee was honored with a framed certificate from the school district.
Here is a picture of me in the computer lab with it:
This past Wednesday, February 17, 2010, I was given another special award. My coworkers at my school nominated me for an Impact Award and I was one of 16 selected! There was a brief reception before the district board meeting where the awards were handed out. This was a huge honor, not only because of my selection at the district, but also because you have to be nominated by your co-workers. That alone speaks volumes.
Here is a picture of Mom and I:
Here is a picture of me with the award and flowers furnished by my school principal:
And here is a picture of Rachel Inspecting the flowers.

The Truth About The News Stations
I love this clip from Joy Behar's show. I'm not into Joy Behar, but finally here is a topic we can agree on.
Jon Stewart from The Daily Show on Comedy Central has been targeting Fox News for years. Now, Bill O'Reilly from Fox News has finally started taking on Jon Stewart. Jon Stewart had the courage to go on Fox News and confront them right in the lion's den.
What's being talked about, though, is important. There are so many people who take what Fox News says as gospel. It's not. It's opinion about current news stories from a Republican viewpoint. It's as if you were watching the Republican News Station.
Fox News tries to claim that everyone "knows this". Not everyone knows this, and sadly, not everyone cares. That's why there are a bunch of people at a Tea Party Convention, with Sarah Palin being paid $100,000 to be their keynote speaker. Fox News has done their part to "promote" and even "sponsor" a lot of the marches and other activities with this same Tea Party.
As opposed to Jon Stewart, who is also doing a show giving opinion, but his Daily Show is not on a "news" network, it is on Comedy Central. People watching that show know there is serious parody going on there.

Another Argument Against Charter Schools
This has been true for a number of years.
Study: Charter school growth accompanied by racial imbalance.

Now It's NASA's Turn
Would you believe NASA is going to outsource the transportation of astronauts to the International Space Station?
Well, NASA, there is an answer to your dilemma: Scaled Composites
You'd think this was rocket science with all of this news. Oh yeah, that's right, it is. :o)
